We can describe allergy as the reaction the immune system gives to some subject getting into the body. The subject is sometimes milk, sometimes it is a type of fish or even food. According to CDC ( Centres for Disease Control and Prevention ), 8 food types have high chance of creating allergy in humans: milk, egg, nuts, fish, sea food with shells, soya, wheat and peanut. Of course we can add more to the list. But the one we prepared for you is including the allergens most probably you haven’t heard of in your entire lives.
1. The Sperm Allergy
Although it is more probable for women to be allergic to sperms, in very rare situations, it is discovered that some guys are allergic to their own sperms.
The person showing an allergic reaction to his own sperm after sex has some symptoms such as a runny nose and wet eyes.
2. Buffalo Meat Allergy
Being allergic to buffalo meat is very rear among adults. However, according to the study published in Journal of Investigational Allergy and Clinical Immunology in 2001, buffalo meat allergy was detected in a person who never had any type of allergy in his life before. The first attack of the patient developed after eating fillet steak and few days later eating a hamburger made of buffalo meat. The search made on the skin of the patient showed that he is allergic to cow, pork, lamb and rabbit meat but he is not allergic to cat, horse, soya and cow milk.
3. Progesterone Allergy
Women always complain about having lots of acnes and oedema in their bodies during their period. Actually these complaints are because of the creation of excess sensitivity against progesterone which is called auto-immune progesterone dermatitis (APD). APD is generally observed in adults, but they can also be seen during pregnancy and menopause.
4. The Water Allergy
Is it possible for a human being to be allergic to water? Yes, including his own organs, he can have an allergy to the substance found most in the world. Strong itchiness and rash occur 5 minutes after interacting with the water. It is still unknown what is causing this allergy type, but there are 30 cases in medical literature.
5. The Cold Allergy
Nettle rash is another name for this type of allergy. It develops by the instant temperature fall. The interaction with cold air, cold water or a cold drink can cause itchiness, rash and oedema. The person having the allergy can take some precautions such as taking an anti histaminic before interaction with cold.
6. Salty Water Solution
Salt (sodium chlorine) creates a salty water solution with water and it is generally given to people having water loss from the vain.
In 2009, according to a case published on American Journal, the woman taken to the emergency service in hospital was having strong belly pains and it was because of the serum given to the patient. This case is the first in medical literature and it happened in Turkey.
7. Fish Bait Allergy
In some cases some fishermen showed allergic reactions to the fish bait. A 58 year old amateur fisherman had oedema and rash after going for fishing in a lake. The complaints started after fishing for 3 hours. In the skin test done, it was seen that the patient had allergy to the fish bait he used. The bait he used was the big beeswax moth.
8. Soya Bean Powder Allergy
Soya bean is an allergen seen all the time. In a case reported on Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology in 1996, a 6 year old boy had some reactions to the bean bag he was playing with, after going to the hospital, it was seen that he had allergy to soya bean powder. Read more…
