Kanye West has long been a follower of high fashion.
With his collaboration with French label APC, his acceptance by Vogue editor Anna Wintour confirmed in the form of a joint cover with wife Kim Kardashian, and his front-row status at nearly every fashion week show this past season, it’s clear that West is a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world.
Now, the rapper can add another sartorial achievement to his record: Along with Kardashian, he will be starring in Balmain’s latest campaign.
West is famously a huge fan of the French label and has reportedly designed sneakers for them in the past (though they were never marketed as a Kanye West collaboration).
In addition, he and Kim are close friends with the brand’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, who chose the couple specifically for the campaign because of their reputations.
The line modeled by West and Kardashian was inspired by women in pop culture who are “proud of their bodies and unafraid to explore sensuality and transparency,” according to Rousteing, who admits to admiring “the way so many of these stars turn the tables on censorship.”
Kim, notably unafraid of showing off her body, proved the perfect face for the campaign. And of course, where Kim goes, so does Kanye.
Earlier today, Kim, the second Kardashian to model high fashion (after sister Kendall) posted a few sneak-peek images from the couple’s campaign on Instagram.
